Process

Four steps, one person.

You talk to the person who will draw the piece, build it, and stand in the room when it goes in. There is no separate sales desk.

01

Conversation

A call or a note about the room, the house, and what you want from the piece. If the work is a fit, we set a time to look at it together.

You do not need a finished plan. The town, a few photographs, and a plain description are enough to start. If I am the wrong person for the job, I will say so.

02

Design and shop drawings

I measure what is actually there, then draw the piece. Wood, hardware, and the way it meets the walls are decided before a board is cut.

You see the drawing and can change it while change is still cheap. Proportions, species, and hardware are part of that drawing, not a surprise on install day.

03

Build in the shop

The work is made in Massapequa. Joinery, fit, and finish happen at the bench, where the piece can be checked square in steady light.

Doors are fitted. Drawers are built as boxes. Parts are labeled so the day of install is quiet, and the person who cut the piece is the person who hangs it.

04

Install and finish

I bring it to the house and install it myself. Scribing, hanging, and the last adjustments are done on site by the person who built it.

Walls are rarely flat, and floors are rarely level. The last part of the craft is making the piece belong to the room you have, not only the room on the drawing.

A useful first note

What helps me answer well.

  • The town, and whether the job is indoors or in the yard
  • A few photographs of the room, or of the spot for an outdoor sauna
  • Rough size, if you know it
  • A wood, if you already have one in mind
  • Whether an architect or builder is already involved
  • A budget range, even a wide one
  • When you would like to start

What I will not guess.

I will not name a price or a date from a sentence. Both come after I understand the work. You will have them before anything is built.

If the job is a better fit for another trade, I will say that too.

Request a Quote

A note is enough to start

Tell me about the room.

Photographs, the town, and a plain description. I read every request myself.
